This was Bank of America fraud department with an alert. It was a legitimate concern related to 2 frequent credit card uses at gas stations very close together, which I had done but had cancelled one due to concern at the pump and went to another station nearby to fill up. I did get an email alerting me of the concern as well as my husband, as primary, received an email. This was a legitimate service related to unusual use of my credit card.

Recorded message said "This is Bank of America credit card fraud department calling for (name) regarding unusual activity on your credit card. A temporary hold has been placed on your card." My husband called the number they left which was 1-844-585-0488. He said the person that answered sounded like a little kid. My husband then hung up and called the number on the back of his Bank of America credit card. The customer service representative he spoke with said they did not call and no one had tried to use his credit card. The day before I received an email titled "Bank of America." Security Alert: Unusual Credit Card Activity Detected.

The business name that showed up on my caller id was Medical Service Group with the telephone number of 513-401-7631, but I did not answer it. They did leave a voicemail message and said that it was from Bank of America regarding a fraud alert on my card and gave me the correct last four digits of my card. I was given the 844-585-0488 telephone number as my call back number. I called back and spoke with a real person, but I refused to give them my full account number. I told them I did not feel comfortable doing that because I usually get fraud alerts on my cell phone and not my work phone. She said she understood my concern and told me that I should call the number on the back of my credit card to be safe. This all sounded so legitimate. I then called my credit card company and was told that there was no record of a representative calling me or that there was an issue with my card.
