Said I bought a home entertainment system from Best Buy. I bought a laptop. Gave them my wrong SSN and name, they still asked for the money and had my ''account'' pulled up. Kept asking for debit card for payment. I asked "what kind of scam is this," she just laughed and said no this is citibank i've worked here for 2 years. I told her I will make my best buy payments in store and she said that's fine but after some time, then again insisted on a payment over the phone.

People. Don't give your info over the phone. They didn't have my correct details and I provided 2 card numbers which they couldn't accept. It's a scam, but they will actually post your payment to your account, BUT they keep your information. Too risky.

This is people pretending to call from Citi/Best Buy about your credit card. However they can and will do nothing to prove it, other than repeatedly claim they are real, or insist they are calling from Citi or Best Buy, or claim they are looking directly at your account-but can't provide any information from the account to prove it.

I keep getting a call from these people. I do have an account with Best Buy, but they are saying different things, like potential problems with my account, or I need to update information. My account is in good standing and therefore should not be receiving calls. Not mention it is never from a real person but a machine. I have blocked the number and a new one would pop up. This is the current iteration.

Scam call. Claim to be citibank to review my best buy account status. Do not go to best buy and do not have a citi bank account. Best part is they're constantly calling my work-line, which I never use to register accounts whatsoever.

The people who posted earlier are right. It really is a scam. They are not the real Citibank/Best Buy credit card number. How I know, I just called the number that's on the back of my card, and it's not 877-836-56xx. The number I call says Best Buy credit card when I call them. That number is 888-574-13xx. Bottom line, don't give up your info before doing your own research of a number.
