Depending on who has your case, these people will either be helpful or downright nasty. They will either work with you or try to convince you that the Feds are coming to arrest you for defaulting. They try calling but our phone has a Smart Call Blocker that asks callers to announce their name; most debt collectors wont.

Nelnet is my student loan servicer. I missed last month's payment so they called to check how I was doing. Rep was able to help me get current and walk through a forbearance and lower my payment.
