Called me and said he reviewed my account and saw I had a good credit score and was wondering if I wanted to lower my interest rate with one of my accounts. I asked what the whole point of this call was and he started the whole rant again about how he was with Experian, and I interrupted him and said I wasn’t interested in any credit cards and he tried to go on the whole rant and ramble again and I just hung up.. Call ID said CAPITAL ONE but is a SCAM (Scam call) reported by


Call recieved from ID that states CAPITAL ONE. Obviously a call center. Spoke quite slowly as it was obvious they were reading a script. Caller was a woman with a medium thick Indian accent. Said they were with Credit Card Services, which is not Capital One. Claimed Exprian had monitored my payment history and offered a give a new lower rate. Said we will pull your file and then offer you the new rate. Said let's work on the first card. How much do you owe? Can you pull it out and give me the expiration date? I had the card in hand and then I said to the woman "As you have access to my file, can you please verify the last 4 numbers of the card we are working with?" Caller hung up. Overall, it is good practice to ask THEM to give you information that would ONLY be in a file if the call were legitimate.

Almost identical to my interaction except they hung up on me sooner when I asked why they couldn't just send me the details in the mail. So annoying.

Caller ID said Capital One, but they are Card Services and claimed to get my information from Experian. Said they can lower my interest rate. Asked for my full card information and last 4 of my social to verify my identity. Never referred to me by name. Spoke with 2 different reps with thick accents and a 3rd with a light accent. I continually expressed my disbelief and the 3rd rep became more insistent, even spouting light insults. He wound up hanging up on me because I wouldn't budge.

Same here … used the same ploy .. Experian, you pay more than minimum monthly, Capital One … using Capital Ones phone number but my phone also shows a MagicJack number … since we have MagicJack, any calls from another MagicJack shows the true MJ Id number…. V70714062501574

I also got a call from this number and caller ID also showed this number V71316281801569. Since I did not answer the call they just hungup.. I have had issues with "Capital One" calls in the past...
