Warranty scam. Was sent a postcard with number to call. When I did - I first thought they were legitimate and gave them my VIN but then they wanted the last 13 numbers of my credit card. Then I realized it was a scam. Do I need to report to anyone that I gave them my VIN?

I received a yellow postcard from US Automotive Protection Services, so I called them and a pushy salesperson answered. I hung up after she finished her pre read script saying “we simply can’t leave your file open so you can’t call back later”.

I have been getting these postcards also. So I finally called today and they did not have my first name nor the dealership I purchased my truck from. Don said I needed to purchase my extended warranty. I told him I already purchased it through the loan I have on my truck. He then said ok and hung up. Not professional but you can tell it was all a scam. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO!!!

Thank you for those who took the time to report. Being new to the US and recently purchasing a second-hand car I would have fell for this had I not checked the number and seen this thread. Scary they had my car info and address!

Yes totally a scam. They tried to scam me, however they didn’t have any info on a car because I don’t own a car. The jokes on them. They just sent a generic letter. They probably tried to call but I don’t answer numbers I don’t know. If important leave a message.

Jokes on them, I literally just moved to TX and had to go through the state inspection, insurance, registration and new DL process. Scam notification.

States my warranty will expire. Gave senior discounts asking for 25.00 down 75.00 in the next couple of weeks. Wanted to know what card I would be using neither told him I would call back after talking to my husband needed to know now. Told him I decided not to take it.

Not only did I say no, the caller got really upset with me and, right after the call, I received three phone calls from a company that spoofs numbers from unsuspected victims in order to call you with pranks like, "WHY DID YOU STEAL MY NEWSPAPER! ..... I'M YOUR NEIGHBOR! .... I'M COMING AFTER YOU RIGHT NOW!" The automated prank call worked with voice recognition.

The call started with a legit explanation of the whole service: all the benefits included and why Mazda (the make of my car) would take care of the car. They went on saying that I could take my car to any Mazda dealership or any other place in the US and Canada. Later the lady explained the payment options. I asked to make the payments online as I would like to read everything and submitting my card information online; they refused (first red flag). She did sent me an email with the informat. in case you receive something from them). After I refused to provide my card information she started lowering the price, which then made clear to me this was a scam.

Spoke with a rude gentleman about this "car Warranty." He says its 100 down plus a monthly payment. I politely decline with a no thank you and he continues to lower the price all the way down to 25 down plus the monthly payment. Proceeds to harp on me about I know you have 25 bucks blah blah blah. Then says well I hope you didn't think this was free. Asked to speak to a manager the guy laughs and needless to say he wouldn't let me speak to a manager and resulted in me hanging up the phone.

They attempt to sell a car warranty for $100 down and $89 a month. When I asked to remove my address and number from their system they got very rude, asking if I was a mechanic and what am I going to do if the car breaks down. I told them I am and I'll fix it, then they became condescending asking what level mechanic and calling me a liar. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, they refused and sent me to another rep who was just as rude and basically said they didn't care about customer service, they would be as rude as they wanted.
