Totally a scam. I’m a web professional and as such I am very well versed in domain registration and renewal. If the calling party doesn’t recognize themselves as your actual registrar and say you can resolve this over the phone just hang up and call your registrar directly.

The message sounded just like what the other people are saying ,a robo caller saying her name is Karen with an urgent call that they have been trying to reach me and that I should call them back regarding my domain name expiring. It was a missed call but that was the message it left me on my voice mail.

"Uh, hi this is Karen. This is an urgent message. Your domain registration is set to expire. We've been trying to reach you regarding your business domain renewal. You can use our automated system to renew your domain quickly when you get a moment to call us back. Please return this call at 1-888-202-5979. Again the number is 1-888-202-5979. Thank you." The person stated out uncomfortable. Then became robotic when it came to the script she has obviously read many times. I missed the call and read the voicemail transcription. It had no company name which put me on alert. I own a few domains with different companies, and as it happens this is about the time for renewal, so even though skeptical I called back to check if it was a real company waiting for the "Thank you for calling so and so". The call starts with the same script and so I fully believed it was a possible scam and googled the number. That is how I ended up on this website.

Left message saying "Uh, Hi this is Karen, with an urgent message. Your Domain Registration is set to expire. We've been trying to reach you regarding your business domain renewal. You can use our automated system to renew your domain quickly when you get a moment to call us back." I have automated alerts from my provider set up to let me know when I need to renew. I would never receive a call for that.
