The company called me, and I almost simultaneously received an email from the credit union and from Amazon. I did not answer the phone call (from an unfamiliar number). I then called my credit union and they said it was a third party company used to detect potential fraud. So all was good, and very attentive! HOWEVER, when I'd first called the number back, they asked for the last 6 digits of my card number, told me it was unrecognized and asked me for my 10 digit phone number (sketchy), at which point I hung up and called my credit union directly. Like the saying goes, "With friends like these,..."

This number is part of a fraud scheme. The automated message said it was from the fraud department calling on behalf of my bank. Banks do not farm out their fraud detection to other companies. I called my bank and they said this call was not from them or a company calling on their behalf.

Banks do use third party monitoring. But this particular number at least for me is for a credit union its posted in my credit unions website under resources. However to be called is strange... you should have received an email Cardservices@"whateveryour financial institution is".. that is if you have email tied to your financial institution. You can call and talk to any rep at any bank and they probably don't know. you need to speak to some one specifically with member services and not some one busy. People this day and age don't give any one the time of day they just answer how they feel you would like them to.

This number is real. If you have a Credit Union account and got messaged about fraud they will help you. I was very Leary about calling until I saw all the messages here. It is not a scam, they are there to help you with unknown charges on your account.

This number was in an email I got saying I'd had a fraudulent transaction on my credit card, and my credit card had been declined that day. After calling them I got worried I had been scammed, but confirmed with my bank and it was legit. Obviously much smarter to call the number on your card or to call your bank if you get this email, but the number turned out to be safe. (Seriously, call you bank instead - the mini-heart attack wasn't fun)

Yes, 866-518-02xx was a valid party notifying me of suspicious purchased to my credit card. Prior to calling, Googled this site and then called speaking with Janice after speaking with my bank. I reviewed my statements on line and then called my 24/7 support with my bank and found out there was two charges I did not authorize. One was in the amount of $846.00 (pending) for a 4 star hotel and the other clothing ($697.50). I've already cancelled my card, have security and the police already involved on this case. Please be proactive and don't be taken advantage of during these times of uncertainty.

Called to inform me about a possible fraud on my Mastercard. Left a short voicemail. I called my credit card members' service number and they verified that it was a legit call. Although I used the card to make the purchases, it was through a company I had never used before, and there was some confusion between me and the company about the amount(s). Hence, the card services blocked my card to prevent possible fraud. The service person I talked to unblocked the card (after verifying my identity) and now all is well. Don't ignore this number if the caller ID displays the number and "FRAUD DETECTION"
