Caller claimed to offer $20 off next month's bill if I took a survey. I called AT&T customer service and they told me this is an old AT&T tech department number not used by AT&T anymore. They said they received other complaints about this caller

Guy call with thick African accent and claimed to be ATT. (Scam call) reported by


Wanted me to go through 3 question survey for $20 credit on my account. Call was dropped before we could finished. Called the number back to verify if I got my credit. as transfered to ATT Rewards and then to Wireless Services. Spoke to 3 diff people so seemed legit. Went through all the automated bs just like you would for any phone service. The last guy asked for last 4 of social of primary account holder. Looked over our account and verified that the $20 credit would be posted the next day. Told my husband about it, and here we are..... #smdh

I received a call from 866-442-2827. They claimed to be from Verizon, asked if I would participate in a quick survey, and offered me a $22 statement credit for my participation. They asked a few questions, I answered (“on a scale of 1-10” type questions). Then they asked “for my security code from AT&T” I said, “AT&T”? He immediately corrected himself and said, “Verizon. I’m sorry, I have an AT&T phone, my mistake.” I said, “I don’t remember my code”. (I do not give out security passcodes.) He immediately hung up.

Fake caller posed as AT&T for a survey and said that I would get a $20 credit in next bill. He asked for private details. I googled the number and found that it was AT&T and assumed it was genuine. Gave my info and the guy hung up. I know I am dumb.

Tried to change my att acct password (Scam call) reported by


Short survey, at the end asked me to confirm last name. Received an att text with a temporary password. Caller asked for that info, I hung up. Went to change my acct password and this is the same process to change your password if you forgot. Caller was trying to reset my acct password to gain access to my account for god knows what.
