I think now they know it is their number. I called chase this morning, and they said this is their number and transferred me to this number. But after waiting a long time, I was asked to call back again, and was given this number. But after I got through, the guy who answered my call did not know this number. LOL. Anyway, it is legit. You can check chase again.

Robo called & left message to call back with ref # and same "item will be returned by 5:30pm". Called back, after researching # online & was 99% sure it was a scam. Yep, usual "we can not locate your account" and then a barely english speaking female got on the line & immediately wanted my account #. Told her no, I'll give you reference # you gave & you can look it up on that + from the # I'm calling from if legitimate. She said call # on back of card & hung up. Definitely not Chase. Better than average phish attempt though.

Claimed to be From Chase fraud (Telemarketer) reported by


First, 2 similar texts; then a call (not answered); then a voicemail. Had name on account, last four digits, amount of transfer, name of account transferred to (but not bank name). Asked me to call them at the number in question and to give a reference number when asked. Said I had to respond by 5:30 pm eastern time that day or the transfer may not go through. Called Chase customer service from number off statements and was told the number given could not be found as one of theirs. Chase then gave me a valid number to call their fraud department who also could not verify the given number as theirs. They added that they don’t give deadlines to verify transactions and don’t ask for “reference” numbers. Accounts did reflect the transfer as “pending” and indicated there were no fraud advisories attached. I did not call the number in question or respond either yes or no to the texts. Unless one Chase hand doesn’t know what the other is doing, this is likely a spear phishing attempt to gather personal information from a scammer.

I had made a money transfer and the message said to call Chase back with a pin they provided in the message to approve the transfer, otherwise the transfer would not go through. I also got a separate text message to reply YES or NO about the transfer. The text mentioned the transfer amount. I replied YES and it confirmed that I had agreed to the transfer and gave a different number to call for any questions. I 800-366-1962. So it's legit.

I was suspicious about the number after receiving the phone call and seeing all the comments here. I called Chase's regular customer service line, which is (800) 935-9935, twice. Both customer service representatives could not find any information on this number. They told me Chase did not contact me. However, the second representative (the first call was interrupted at this point) transferred me to an account specialist department, where a specialist confirmed with me that the robocall or automated call is indeed a legitimate number from Chase.

I would be very careful. Its not like chase to call you with that. I use chase quite often. They would email me with any fraud and text me as well. This number just calls constantly. I would not give them personal info or if you do, keep an eye on your account to make sure you dont get your account drained in a few months.....

The real Chase bank said they would never call you as a robot and ask your personal information. If you doubt it, don't call the number they tell you to call. Instead, look up the number and call Chase yourself.
