I received a call from 855-306-6939 the other day on my landline. I screen all my calls, so when I didn't recognize the number, I let it roll to voicemail, and the caller left a message. Caller was male, speaking English with a very slight, odd accent that I couldn't place. It was difficult to understand what he was saying, because he was rushing through what was obviously a script. I couldn't catch everything he said, but the part I caught is that he was looking for someone named (garbled 1st name) Matthews, and it was "very important" that ??? Matthews return the call. Caller did not identify the company he was calling from, or what the call was about, in his message. I did a reverse lookup and saw the number is for Ally Financial - specifically their Debt Collection department. I don't have a car loan at all, let alone one I've defaulted on. I don't know anyone with the last name of Matthews. And I sure wouldn't give any information to some rando who calls me out of the blue. I added this number to my blocked list, because most of the complaints I found for this number say that they've gotten multiple calls. No thanks.

I always wait for unknown numbers to leave a message (I never delete contacts, including blocked ones). Accent like hispanic/brazilian/indonesian. Error free but laborious English. Called for a 'james white', said twice to call back, in the end identified herself as 'this is francesca, the owner'. Obviously phishing for renters... Did wait until the system accepts the message ('the beep') and started talking after that. Know nobody with this voice/speech, number had never appeared here before. After the call I did look the number up on the net, there are sites with negative experiences (who answered the call). So I just confirm that one called here too.

Glick & Ally Financial asking for someone who never lived here. (Robocall) reported by


Glick & Ally Financial from what i could barely make out from the fast speaking person. They called me asking for someone who never lived here. Sounded like some sort of debt collecting agency using an autodialer which is supposed to be illegal from what i could find out about them on the internet. This would explain how the person on the line knew my name without me actually having any connection with the person they are supposedly looking for. Seems they are just calling up anybody trying to find debts with an autodialer.
