They contacted me and said they were non profit trying to stop a foreclosure; had lots of info but some wrong. Didn't answer Questions, violated government do not call list, etc. AVOID IT .... felt very scammy

I got behind on my mortgage, they offered to help, but it seemed fishy. They said they had a loan officer for my mortgage company on the other line to help me but I had to verify my SSN, so I refused. I asked if I could have her name, Nancy Vargas she said. I said I would call the customer service number I had on my papers, she kept trying to get the number I was going to call and wanted me to call a different number. I called my number, and there was a Nancy Vargas, and the ID number I was given was real, but individuals can't be reached that way and I was assured it was all a scam. I keep calling and answering their calls playing stupid, because if they are dealing with me they are not scaming anyone else. Don't trust them.

If you answer you will get a robo telling you about a foreclosure program. Press 0 to speak to someone. When you speak with someone they try to get your information, don't provide it. Don't agree with anything, don't give your name or any information. Better yet, don't answer the scam call. Answer if you like to annoy them and keep them on the phone so they can't talk to anyone else. If you do want to annoy them, don't provide any real information. Give them your local attorney general's name and contact information.
