Federal Government Treasury (Scam call) reported by


aid he was calling on behalf of the US Treasury and that I was entitled to $9000 Federal grant. I pretended to play along. I asked what I had to do to get this money. He said there were three ways I could receive the money. One way was to have a direct deposit into my checking or savings account. I said, let me guess, I'll bet you need my bank account information! He said yes! I asked what the other ways were. He said through Western Union or Money Gram at Walmart. I sounded all excited and said, Oh wow! Western Union or Money Gram? That's when he hung up. I have received three of these calls in the past 24 hours.

I got the same 9k grant call and he gave me a phone # to call to verify I was who they were looking to give the money too. Haven't called the # but I am sure they would ask for personal info or financial info or I would end up with a huge bill from my provider.

Said he was calling on behalf of the US Treasury and that I was entitled to $9000 Federal grant. He had my name, address and phone number. I was supposed to call 240-257-6407 and give them a grant ID number to receive my debit card.

They said the Federal reserve owed me money, because I was on a list of people who had gone bankrupt. They wanted to know how I would like to receive the money; bank account, check, or credit card. I hung up and blocked the number.

I answered the call and a gentleman with a foreign accent said he was from the Department of Treasury and that I had been chosen. I interrupted him and told him his number identified as ticket Master. He went on to try and tell me I had won something, I hung the phone up. Number now blocked.

Call about some "govt grant" I was to receive (Scam call) reported by


First calls came from a "restricted" number. Told them to stop calling. Then call came from 213-640-3024, same people, telling me I had a several thousand dollar grant from the govt, blah blah blah. I blocked the 213 number. They also tried this same stunt a few weeks ago, so they must have multiple 213 area code numbers they use. Told them to put me on the do not call list, but they ignored it. Some kind of scam, probably trying to steal identity information.
