The exact same thing was said to me as Becky (3 months ago). Stupid flippant candy jar comment like we were friends. They've been literally calling for months, but because I was distraught tonight and thought it was a friend, I answered. They are using a local number. It is not local. It is a scam. They don't care about the do not call list because they don't follow the law. They should be prosecuted by international law.

The caller called on my land line at work and said "getting through to you is harder than getting my son's had out of the candy jar" and chuckled like we were old friends. She launched into her campaign and I stopped her saying it was terribly inappropriate to call me at work and asked her to remove my name and number from the call list. She said she didn't realize it was a place of business and would update the records. (Sure...) She wasn't rude but I hate that tactic of trying to act like she knows me. I know non-profits have a right to make unsolicited calls, but I would never donate a nickel to anyone who called me on the phone. I donate to charities I know and trust and they don't harass me on the phone. If they did, they would get dropped.

I've written several complaints to the FCC about these annoying calls and the last time they referred me to the complaint link at the FTC. I think it's a scam...no real foundation is using robocalls anymore to raise funds.

This is my comment...I should have put Caring4U in the name field. Anyway, the caller ID said "United Breast C" and the numbe was 970-2369496. I did a bit of checking on charity scams...here's something I found: Frequent phone solicitations. “Typically, that’s a for-profit telemarketing firm making that call and they’ve been known to keep a significant portion of your contribution,” says Sandra Miniutti, vice president of marketing and chief financial officer for Charity Navigator. “There are even cases when the for-profit firms keep everything plus a payment from the charity.”

I picked up the phone and the coward won't even speak. Too bad we can't attach a 50,000 volt shock with a taser to unwanted incoming phone calls. What a concept huh?
