They called pretending it was the last day to book hotels for a tradeshow which is scheduled in October 2020. My company is not even attending the show. When I told the person we were not attending, he became really rude telling me I was not understanding today is the last day.

The caller claimed that today is the last day to make hotel arrangements for "the international conference in New York." I asked for clarification (I'm an assistant at a small firm that sometimes attends conferences, so the call was somewhat familiar). He just repeated "the international conference in New York." Couldn't give me any information about himself or the conference, but he did give me a number to call back. Unclear if this is an outright scam or just a very shady telemarketing situation, but definitely something to stay well away from.

This number is not officially registered to any business. When they call you, they do not tell you what company they are with, they just give you their first name and start asking you questions they are not entitled to answers to. If you tell them to take you off the list, they call right back. If you call them, someone answers as if it is a personal phone line.
