Claim to be Comcast - are not! (Scam call) reported by


This number ‘toll free call’ on my caller ID called me. I only answered because I was expecting another call and wasn’t sure of their number, so I picked up. The gentleman (who had a strong foreign accent in a setting with a lot of background noise from other callers) told me he was calling from Comcast because I was a recently deemed a preferred customer and he wanted to know if I was interested in special offers (he even told me the call could be recorded). He knew my name, but Comcast has never offered me anything proactively, and I have even fought tooth and nail before with them to just get the package I agreed to! I asked this caller if he could leave me his number so I could call him back at a better time, but he said he would call me back. I reinforced that I preferred to call him back, and he said I could just call the regular Comcast/Xfinity line. I immediately call Comcast and the CSR has no record of outbound calls to me and tells me they have had other reports of scams like this. She confirmed never to give personal information, and she was going to escalate to her management. I’m not surprised it was a scam, but he knew my name and mobile number and that I was a Comcast customer. I only recently cancelled my Comcast landline and few businesses have my mobile number at this point. It makes me wonder how my personal information is truly used with all businesses I deal with, but a key lesson learned is to trust your gut!

This is ridiculous that Time Warner/Spectrum allows them to call that late. I don't care what your selling. A lot of people and people's kids are in bed at 9pm and I usually never answer my phone that late unless it's a family emergency. On top of the numerous forms of junk mail promoting Spectrums new promotions EVERY day in the mail, I'm now getting these sales calls from them too? I'm already a customer of them but obviously it's not enough. They want me to pay more for stuff I don't need.
