The guy with an Indian accent claims the computer is infected and wants access to fix the problem. He then wants to be paid to have it fixed, while he tries to steal data from your computer.

I called and the guy was giving me instructions to do on my keyboard and he said just concentrate on your keyboard he said it twice,, and when it got to pressing ok I said what is going to do and he started yelling and being rude and said I just explained to you,,,,,do you not understand,,,,i said I do understand completely but what do yall have to do with my internet provider,,,,, he got rude and said I just told you just follow instructions don't waste my time ,,,,please if your not going to proceed don't waist my time,,,i said ok I have the right to ask as many questions as I want because your supposedly fixing the issue and your being rude ,,,once again yelled and said don't waist my time I said f*** y** and I hung up,,,,,,so be careful don't follow these thives instructions they just want to get your credit card information to steal from you,,,, I just took mines to geek squad and they fixed for me and said it was nothing wrong with the hardware it just needed to be clean from viruses and mal spyware,,,,if you listen to them your screwed.

This number was left on my laptop with a Block that made accessing my programs impossible. Calling this number led to an operator that asked for permission to restore and remove virus and corrupted files. I gave permission only to learn at the end of the evaluation I would have to pay $399.00 before they would unblock are restore/ fix the issues that they said I had. I can't open my laptop because they still have their soft wear open ready to cause damage and hack me further.

I did not get a call. I got a pop up alert disguised as "Charter Communications Customer, your system has detected possible suspicious activity. Please call the toll free number below for a MS Certified tech to help you resolve the issue." It came with a loud annoying audio alert that I could not exit or close. I called Charter tech support and they informed this is not a charter alert, and referred me to MS, who confirmed this is not their number and is obviously a scam. The only way I could close was through task manager. My Lenovo T420 pc was just restored from factory partition with a fresh security suite install from Charter, firefox install, then this pop up happened immediately after loading firefox.

I got the same. I phoned them and they said if I want the block off, I would have to pay them $399.00 I realized they hacked on to my system. I logged out asap.

call 2 times left no message I think they want you to call back to sell something... I get these all the time..I must be on some list.
