I had an outage in my area. I had left my number to have them call & tell me when the repairs were completed. This was just the automated call letting me know that it was completed (and it was actually hours before estimated time!). I was actually impressed!

Claimed they need to know household income details or they are shutting off my power... I may have actually believed it had i been past due.

This number called me today and left a some what legit sounding message. It stated " This is West Penn, your electric company. I'm calling to discuss your household income and occupancy to see if you can lower your bills. If you do not provide this information during the ____ ( couldn't understand) time, your account can and will be terminated call back between X and X M-F at _________ " ... If you go onto West Penn, first energy, Ohio Edision etc website, it will tell you the known scams that are going around. My account is current, and I don't discuss my home information with anyone who I haven't contacted about it first, or without written mailed interest. You only get a very robotic call if your account is past due, that tells you how to make a payment. They always send you a written letter if your account is due to be disconnected and how to rectify that situation. Don't call the number back.
