Renewal call for magazines never ordered (Scam call) reported by Jeanette
My mother has been getting calls from American Readers' Service at 888-299-8476 for a few years. She has told them repeatedly that she did not order these magazines & she wants them cancelled. Last month they debited her bank account, so the bank explained that the number showing up with the debit was a phone number for the company. She started a dispute regarding this payment & the bank is now investigating. We got her a new bank account, so they cannot do this again. This is a scam, as there are never any bills sent out.

They call you and say that you have singed up for a magazine scrpt. A while back ago and they need to update your information, but two problems #1 They can't tell you anything, like your card information they guess the first 2#s and they ask you to verfi the rest ,they can't tell you when you signed up or how long you been with them ,they use sneaky ways to get it out if you ,and #2 you never get anything in the mail that you would order with them ,no bill no papers contract ect.,please do your self a favor dont answer this number please, hope this will get put put there for everyone,

this # belongs to the magazine company America's Reader's Service. this is a legitimate company however i was called by their employee Jacob ... and he told me that i had a subscription with them for another 30 months and i could stop the subscription from auto renewing in 3 years by providing him with my personal i formation such as my name, phone #, address and social security # and credit card info but i couldnt cancel it altogether and stop payments. now that was a red flag for me that he was asking for that information but since he already had my name, phone # and address and he listed 3 names of magazines i had currently been receiving at home i figured i must have already had a subscription and he was being honest when he said there was no way to cancel it cuz it was past the cancellation period and i needed to continue payments and give him my updated credit card info. he said he was only asking for that information so he could process the stop auto renew. even though i couldnt afford to make payments for 30 months i really didnt want it to auto renew and go thru the nightmare of having to make payments for an additional 3 years after that and he made it seem like i had no other choice i gave him the info he asked for thinking he would only do what he said he would do- stop the auto renew and he wouldnt charge me anything. but i was worried i had made a huge mistake so i checked my bank account and sure enough he charged me $39.95 about a week later! i called back the # to complain and look into it and was given a billing # to call to cancel my subscription that he fraudulently restarted. i knew i had signed up for magazines several years ago but i couldnt remember what company so when i called the billing # i wanted to make sure i actually had a subscription with them. i was told by the rep that i did have one like 2 years ago but i cancelled it cuz i couldn't afford it! so not only did jacob lie telling me i had a current subscription that i still had to
