As others have stated on this page, an unsolicited piece of mail arrived to my name and address, with a return address of "100 Citibank Drive San Antonio, TX 78245-3202". They provide the phone number above to activate a card (which I didn't apply for or receive any other correspondence about). I called citibank's fraud line directly (google it yourself) and opened a fraud case with them. They confirmed that a couple of accounts had been opened in my name, and put blocks on those accounts. A couple of things to note here: The phone number above is valid, it is actually the card activation number for citibank (the operator I spoke to confirmed this). I wouldn't recommend calling this number, though; instead find the fraud reporting number online. Also, I did need to provide a SS# for them to help me (since I don't know any account numbers, they need a way to identify me!) This might irritate some people, but think about it from the bank's perspective- the fraudsters already have your name, address, and SS# (otherwise you wouldn't be here reading this), so give citibank the info they need to help you. Afterwards, they transferred me to another department who provided resources (help with credit bureau freezes, etc), and were very polite across the board (contrary to citibank's reputation).

Like many others I received a piece of mail with a pin number for a card that I did not apply for or receive. I called Citibank directly and after several minutes on the phone trying to decipher if this was a legitimate piece of mail or not because I refused to give them my SS# I asked to confirm if the number that was given on the piece of mail was a legitimate Citibank number. They confirmed that this numbers is NOT legit. I reported the mail to USPS as fraud.

I also spoke with Citibank, and got a different answer- they told me the number above is an official phone line for activating cards. They also told me that accounts were opened in my name, so you might want to call Citibank back and try again. See my other comment for more details.

We received a PIN for a card we do not own. The address used was a home address that is not used for this purpose. Also the name listed was not a legal name (nickname). It identifies a card number with last digits noted, but not a card that we applied for, or was ever active in our names. CitiBank says the card is not associated with our Social Security number but could not determine what card the PIN served. Awaiting a call to CitiBank fraud department for more assistance.

I just got the same thing in the mail. I called Citibank directly. They had me email a picture to the [email protected].

Same thing here. Recieved in the mail, called the number on the mailer and was connected with someone asking for my social security number. I did not give it and hung up, just felt fishy.
