called and said i owed a balance on a account that hasn't been paid for 4 months and it was 50.41 and wanted to know what form of payment i wanted to pay and i hung up and blocked the number

Received several calls from this number with immediate hang up upon answering. Last call was ultimately connected to human. Asked if I had a Dish account, then challenged me to prove my identity before she could say why I was being called. When I refused, I was advised that I would be put on the "refused to confirm" list, and was hung up on. I called Dish and was told that it is NOT a legitimate Dish number. I recently canceled their service and returned their equipment...Is it a collection agency? Dish confirmed that I have no balance on my (closed) account...

This number belongs to a 1st party collection agency. They work on behalf of DISH network. If they're calling, you should probably talk to them. They try to keep accounts from going to 3rd party collections, which can affect your credit score.
