"Dell Technical Support" Offering "Assistance" (Scam call) reported by


I have been called on this number repeatedly by persons with an Indian accent claiming to be from Dell Technical Support. They contend that software updates are being rejected by my Dell laptop, which must therefore be affected by malware. They ask me to go to my computer to perform certain operations under their guidance. I have declined to do so. Dell Support, reached by chatline on the Dell website, denies that the callback number I was once given is a Dell number and states that Dell technical support only responds to customer concerns initiated by the Dell customer. Dell Support referred me to the FTC to file a complaint.

The scammers know your model number because Dell had there records hacked and information stolen. They have called me as well. Have asked Dell in Houston if my credit card information was stolen as well but they would not say. Had to cancel my credit card.
