Middle Eastern male said he's calling from "Benefits Medicare". I just told him that I don't have Medicare so he must have the wrong number, then he hung up. The number is spoofed since the 877 number the call came from comes back in a Google search to Medicare.

This is a pretty scary scam, given the information they have and their apparent legitimacy online. They called at least six times this week, and I told them that we don't take telemarketing calls, and asked them to take us off the list. I finally decided to play along with them, and told him that I was hoping they would call back so that I could give him all the personal information he wanted, and he could have a very good day. I looked up the phone number as we were speaking, and it appeared to be the number for Medicare. I told him that I would listen with a skeptical ear. I didn't give him any information, but they had my full Medicare number, along with a recent (but not current) address. He said that Medicare was going to start paying for eye and dental work, and I could see any doctor I chose - and it would all be free. They would send my new card by next week. He said that I would lose benefits if I didn't complete the verification. He said that he saw that I had knee and back problems (which I did), and I just said that those are pretty common for people of my age. He said that he needed to transfer me to the verification department so that they could sign me up and send free back, knee and ankle braces, and I said "This is where I find out what you really want." He finally got frustrated that I still thought he was trying to sell something, and transferred me to his supervisor. I was also skeptical when the supervisor talked to me, and he finally hung up on me.
