They said they were from Duke Power and said our power would be cut off in an hour because there was a red flag on the account. They told me to call 877-661-1928 ext. 2 to find out the reason for the power cutoff. Said he was a technician and couldn't give me the reason himself. I asked him what kind of scam this was. He said it wasn't a scam, it was a prank. Then he continued repeating himself about the power being cut off. I looked up the phone number he gave me, and it was to a home income website. SCAM!

A male called and said he was with Duke energy and they were coming to turn off our Electricity at our business. They gave a number to call for their supposed customer Service. We did not call the number the person gave us and instead called the number on our Duke Energy Statement and found the call to be a scam. The caller sounded shady and our instincts were correct. Do not call the number they provide to you it is another scammer waiting to collect your credit card information.

Got a call at my business from 866-585-6346. He said he was calling from Edison and they were disconnecting our power in 45 minutes for unpaid bills. I told him it was impossible, and that our bills were always paid on time and we had no outstanding bills. He said I needed to pay now if I didn't want our service disconnected. He had our address and suite #... When I refused to pay, he told me I should call Customer Service immediately to "double check" (877-840-4797 extension 2). I didn't call...

Scam Alert BE AWARE!! I just received a call from a scammer stating they are from Duke Energy and are turning my power off in 45 minutes for lack of payment! Stating that I owe $400.00 the phone number that called me is 866-582-6346 they informed me that I must call this number to pay my bill 855-837-0772 I did call that number and it does sound like Duke Energy customer service line. I knew I did not owe anything to Duke nor was I behind in payment. But I called to see what they would say to me. Very, Very scary as they had my address and my account number and wanted me to pay them $400.00 over the phone not to have my service disconnected. I hung up and called the real Duke Energy and reported this to them. I am just letting you all know in case you get this call. Don't pay anything its a scam!
