"Cleaned my PC," wanted $399 for service (Scam call) reported by Mae
A pop-up message told me I had a virus and shouldn't navigate from the page. I called the service number. The technician, who had a Scottish or Australian accent. said they were with Microsoft, and that my computer had 1000s of 'trojan horse viruses.' He controlled my PC remotely and seemed to be cleaning hundreds of files. At the end he wanted $399 for 1 year, or $499 for 2 years. I stupidly signed up for the $399 plan. As soon as the call ended, I searched this number and saw the scam ratings. I quickly called the bank, and they stopped payment. BEWARE! DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER or Click on the Pop-up. Microsoft has said they would never do that.

Spectrum Internet Security Call (Scam call) reported by Marta
So they have called me several times over the last week or so. Today I picked up. The accented caller said that he was from Internet Security and that they have detected lots of traffic on my internet 3 days ago and they are calling because they are concerned and want to check my computer. I pressed him what Internet and what security and finally he said that it was Spectrum. I DON'T HAVE SPECTRUM. This is an obvious scam to get into my computer. Be very careful and don't let anyone have access to your computer unless YOU call them and know who is on the other line.
