This is a valid PayPal service number. I've confirmed this by calling a customer service number listed on the PayPal website and reporting the number that called me. Not a scam, this number is in the PayPal directory. If you are sceptical change your password then contact a PayPal customer service number listed on the PayPal website + consult them about the number that called you.

This number is a valid PayPal service number. I've confirmed it by calling the customer service number listed on the website. Not a scam. If you are sceptical of the call you received I would advise changing your password + calling customer service then providing the number that contacted you to ensure you are not being scammed. Feel pretty stupid calling a PayPal number to report another PayPal number but at least it wasn't a scam.

They called me and they said to call me back, a Robot said my name, then when I called them I had to choose between English and french, then I was speaking to a human, which he said he is from PayPal, then I asked them how can I know that he is from pay pal and not a scammer and then he just hung up. DEFINITELY SCAM!!

She said she’s from Paypal. She said she’s calling regarding the negative balance in my account. She told me the amount which is correct. Still, anyone can have that number. Even a crooked employee can obtain any information about you. I’ve been dealing with PP regarding this issue for two weeks now. I’m on the negative because the seller charged me twice and they’re taking their sweet time to refund me. Now PP is after me, but really they should be after the seller. I filed a dispute regarding this and they SHOULD NOT be calling me. They should be calling the seller. When in doubt, ask their name, ID, company business name & phone number so YOU can call them back. They SHOULD always give it to you without any fuss. Before you actually call them, google that company and see if you can find a phone number. If the company name sounds iffy, google for reviews regarding that business name. At this point there should be red flags popping up already. If there’s none, it’s more than likely a legit business. REMEMBER, ACTUAL agents are NOT HOSTILE. They are there to help you settle things. THE MOMENT you feel there’s hostility, you can always hang up.

I logged in to my PayPal account and found no outstanding balance. I called PayPal using a different number and talked to a person to confirm. So I’m pretty sure this is a scam too. BTW the scammer read me some amount which could be true but I don’t see how it could possibly be a negative balance because I used an active credit card which got approval. Yup, pretty sure it’s a scam.

They called and said they were from PayPal. She said her name so fast I couldn't understand her. She wanted to know when I would pay PayPal for an overdrawn balance. I checked my PayPal account and there was no overdrawn balance. I hung up. Then 20 minutes later, they called again, they left a message wanting me to give them a call to solve the problem with my account.

They will call numerous times a day, multiple days a week, and maybe longer. They will continue to call whether you answer and tell them to leave you alone. They claim to be from PayPal, which they are not. I have personally talked with the REAL PayPal and they confirmed with me that the number +1-866-279-5316 is NOT theirs. As soon as you get a call from this number, block them, they will continue to call you once every hour. I have been getting these calls for 4 days now and it's not stopping. In fact, I did not put my home phone number online however they managed to find what it is and my father is tired of dealing with them (my home phone isn't able to block numbers directly).
