If this number calls you, tell them to DO NOT call you again and make sure you are registered on the DO NOT CALL registry via the FTC and then report this number. This was a scam call looking to obtain private information. The agent refused to disclose their name and the company that employs them. RED FLAG!

Smells like predatory lending to students who might be financially vulnerable. Reputable lenders don't cold call. Reputable lenders are upfront about their loan products. Reputable lenders offer details of their loan products BEFORE they take all your personal information. The caller initially offered a "student loan forgiveness" program. The caller screens your qualification for "the program", then hands you to an advisor. The advisor goes straight for getting into your background, identification, and loan history. I asked several questions and he got irritated. I wanted to know what government agency they work for. He replied that the company is a "private company" and then backtracked from claims of "student loan forgiveness". He said, "I never said forgiveness", but that's exactly how they introduce it. He then said the company "works through" the Dept of Education. No clarification what "working through" really means, but I suspect it means they get your personal information from them to call because you have a loan. The advisor then tells you he has to finish the application in order to send it to Underwriting. So... at best, this is a loan you didn't ask for; at worst this is nasty attempt to get sensitive personal information from students.
