As other's said, this is Merrill Edge—their preferred customer line. Because it's for preferred clients, it's not listed. You should not trust me. You should go to the website like I did and call their support number. I was able to confirm the name of the person who called, the phone number, and they were able to transfer me to that person to get my contact info updated. For subsequent interactions, now that I've confirmed this number when I use it it's much faster than calling the main line.

caller started with mispronouncing my name, and then "I know your account says not to call..." That was an extremely bad start - no "Is this a good time to speak with you" (it wasn't, basically it never is). Asked for identifying information, I refused. He would not provide appropriate information regarding the reason for his call, which is very distressing to me. When I indicate ":DO NOT CALL", I really mean it. I asked him to use secure website messaging, and he said he did not have access to that, only his manager did. Of course I told him to have his manager do it. I am a premium Merrill Lynch account holder. This is not the first time that ML has dropped a phone bomb in the middle of my busy day, nor the first time that I have contemplated moving all my BoA and ML accounts elsewhere. I have an outstanding fraud alert on credit bureaus because of previous identity theft and I do not appreciate unsolicited calls when it is convenient for the caller's workday, and not convenient for me.

I called the Main Merrill Edge phone number taken from their website and asked if this number was legitimate. The service representative said that the number was their premium client phone number.

I called them last week (at a different number) this was their return call with the answers to my questions about my account. (It does come up on caller ID as Unknown Caller so let them leave a message).

This is scam call. Two ways I know: 1. They ask you to "verify your account" by asking for your account number or your SSN. Real finance companies WILL NOT ask you for these and their representatives are not given access to full SSN's due to liability reasons. 2. I called the official Bank of America number, and after cross-referencing this number, it is not tied to any official BoA or ML phone numbers. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO!

This actually IS Merrill Lynch, I got a message to call them about a question I had, so I did, they asked for my last 4 of my social security number, my date of birth, and email on file. After providing them that info they gave me the information I asked about last week then tried to upsell me some Bank of America services. This is a legit number.
