As others say, list homes that are currently under contract as their own rentals, then ask for your credit reporting information before they will provide any details about the listing (pet fees, move-in date availability, lease terms, etc.) Huge red flags all around. Do not give them any information, stay away.

This person has multiple listings on Craigslist for below market housing rentals. When I searched the address I found that "rental" was actual a house pending sale and this scammer took the photos from the for sale pictures. THIS IS A SCAM. Flag all listings and do not share any information with this scammer. They are looking for identity information to steal.

Below-market home rental (Unsolicited call) reported by R. Williams
I viewed a Craigslist real estate ad for a rental house with a below-market price. I phoned the 855- number in the ad. The "property owner" asked for my email address before he would meet me at the property. He sent me an email as we talked. The be sure I qualified for the rental, he wanted me to click the link in the email. There's no lengthy application, he said, "just snap a picture of your credit score." The address of the link looked hinky and the request to send a photo of my credit report sounded totally fake, so I ended the call before clicking on it.
