This is a scam from people pretending to be DISH. They called to schedule a technician to come out and install new equipment. Caller ID said it was dish. They wanted my four digit security code, or birth date & last four digits of SSN. There would be a charge for the service call and a security deposit on the new equipment. We scheduled an appointment time. Then I emailed DISH & they replied that no one from their company had called me, they did not have any service visit scheduled, & if I got another call to let their fraud prevention team know. I also called DISH & was told they have a nationwide problem with this scam, & if someone shows up pretending to be a service call, do not let them in & call the police. I asked my phone company & they said people can do "caller ID switching" to fake who a call is from. I just now had a call go to my voice mail to confirm the service call & while caller ID showed nothing, the voice mail recorded that the call had come from 855-531-3493.
