Process Server / Mediator (Scam call) reported by SUSPICIOUSinTEXAS
1/30/2019. Voicemail from a woman claiming to be a process server. She said my husband would be served on 2/1/2019 at his work or home. She gave a file # to ref. & told us to call the "Plaintiff's Office" at 855-204-4583, if we had questions or needed to reschedule. I called the #, it rang once, then went to hold music. Tried 3 times, same thing. Researched 855, it’s toll free. Called 411, no listing. On 1/31/2019 I called the 855 # just after 9:00 AM. Male answered. I said politely, "Hello, is this a law firm?" He said "Hello, no, this is ACA Associates, we're a mediation firm." I said, "Oh, I see. Well I'm calling because yesterday, I received a voice mail notifying me to call this number. But when I called, it rang once then went right to hold music, so I got suspicious because-" Didn’t get to finish, he hung up. Red flag but I call again. A female answered. I said politely, "Hi, I was just on the line with a gentleman but he either hung up or our call dropped. I'm calling on behalf of my husband because we got a voicemail telling us to call this number." She asked if I had a file number, which I gave to her, then said, "I'd like the case number and the county the case was filed in, please." Her tone became hostile. She said, "First off there is no case number. As it was explained to you-” Politely, I said, "Hold on miss, let me-" She didn't let me finish, she yelled at me and said, "You will NOT interrupt me when I'm talking!" I say, "Excuse me, but I am just trying to explain-" She yells, "This is customer service, I don't have to help you." I say to her, "Well, if this is legit and not a scam, then you would know better than to conduct yourself like this with a customer." She said, "I'm terminating this call. Good luck to your husband." I said cheerfully, "Ok, thanks!" and hung up. Friday the 1st came we weren’t served. Can’t find anything on ACA Associates relevant to mediation.
