Car warranty scam (Telemarketer) reported by Kurt
Not very happy with them. I talked to a live person for quite some time and really had them going. But when I said I wanted a warranty on a '74 AMC Gremlin, they hung up on me. Poor customer service.

They call us almost daily about the car warranty. Car dealers must have sold our info. I'll never give my cell number to them again.

Car warranty scam. (Scam call) reported by 97.100.93.xxx
As others have said, it's a call about a car warranty, regardless if you actually own one or not. In the voice mail, it mentions pressing 1 and 2 for different options (you would not be able to do so through a voicemail message anyway.) Ignore the call, block the number, and report it.

Scam Call (Scam call) reported by Doris L. Corea
I do not have any warranty on my 2010 car as the 2nd owner. They speak very fast in these calls, particularly on voicemail! Usually the scam calls I get which are few do not leave a message! When they left the bogus ‘800’ number of 844-989-1708 I knew this was a scam! There are no 800 #’s starting with 844!!! I blocked the initial call # which was 334-337-5404. The hasty voicemail contained the bogus 800 #!! I lived long enough particularly as a scientist who solves mysteries! And I know this is a Scam!

Doris...Uhhh...There are many 844 toll-free numbers! Toll free numbers include 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, and 888. If you are/were a scientist, then you should know about a thing called RESEARCH! Toll Free 844 numbers were first released by the FCC on December 7, 2012. Check it out...a simple Google search will keep you advised:

Scam-like behavior (Telemarketer) reported by Jessica Flick
Same as others. Call originated from a spoof number with my area code. Got this number from their voicemail. I’m not sure what the technical definition of a scam is but this is definitely on the unethical behavior spectrum. I have a lifetime warranty on my car That I got when I bought It new. The car is now six years old and never has anyone from the dealership ever contacted me to have a convo about said warranty. So this call saying my warranty is expiring is 100% BS. Assuming they are trying to sell you a car warranty this would probably qualify as telemarketing but either way, their pitch is a lie so don’t answer.

Called as (623)253-59xx (Scam call) reported by Sarah
In their message they say they that since they haven’t received a response, this is their last courtesy call before they close out my file and to press “1” to speak to a warranty specialist. Therefore this is an automated message since this was left on my voice mail. Also, I don’t have any type of warranty for anything. I left this review under the number that they mention in the voicemail they left me but they actually called from another local number. So beware!

All the calls are coming from a single location, like in a state where telemarketing is not regulated, like Florida or Texas, and then they use spoofed numbers. Those are actual phone numbers assigned to genuine human beings. The telephone carriers all provide a means to disguise the actual number one calls from with a number assigned to another person. In fact, I once received a phone call on my home phone and the caller ID showed that I was phoning myself. They do this in order to trick the recipient into believing their call origin in local to the recipient. This could all end very quickly, if Congress were to ban the ability for phone number spoofing. But since they can't get their stuff together and pass COVID 19 stimulus, any consumer protective legislation is out of the question.

Extending or reinstating (non-existing) coverage (Telemarketer) reported by Lorraine
I got a message similar to other posts but I got the call from 914-491-7922. They left this voicemail: "...warranty eligibility. Since we have not gotten a response, we are giving you a final courtesy call before we close out your file. Press 1 to speak with a warranty specialist about possibly extending or reinstating your coverage. To be removed and placed in our do not call list, press 2 or call our 800 number at 844-989-1708 UST 239 RPG"

Nuisance (Robocall) reported by smart56
They have apperntly bought or otherwise have access to lists of anyone who has every purchased an auto warranty. We did so in 2006 buying a used 2003 Cavalier with a three year warranty. So it ran out 14 years ago and the car has been retired for 2 years. The message starts with "this is your final curteous call as you should have received mail". I called the 800# listed above to be taken off the list only to have them find my cell number and start calling it. Since I've never spoken to anyone I don't know if they realy sell policies or not, but they are definitely a pain.

Scam call wanting to extend car warranty. (Telemarketer) reported by DW
Left voice message: "...concerning your car's extended warranty. You should have received something in the mail about your car's extended warranty. Since we have not gotten a response we are giving you a final courtesy call before we close out your file. Press 2 to be removed and put on our do not call list. Press 1 to speak with someone about possibly extending or re-instating your car's warranty. Again press 1 to speak with a warranty specialist. (Different voice at this point.) We are calling from Automotive Services. If you would like to be removed from our calling list please call toll free 844-989-1708 ."

I did not press 2 or call the number, strongly suspect they would claim I'd agreed to something.

The initial number they called from was 410-826-7398 which is the non-existent number in Maryland. This is a SPOOFED number per my investigation with www.USPhoneBook.com. The exchange 826 is not in used in Maryland and this call is, therefore, by definition a SCAMMER calling and the number must be blocked IMMEDIATELY and PERMANENTLY. Therefore, NO ONE should ever answer a call from this number.
