Seems to bought the expired loans and trying to extort money from people by using fake internet numbers and spoofing the financial institutions. This is typical to tactics employed by a Toronto debt collector - Financial Debt Recovery, from whom series of calls are robo /auto generated as soon as a new agent join their team every now and then.

I was unsure if it was a scam because they knew our names, but I hung up because I figured if Scotiabank was calling, it would probably be a 1-800# and would be an actual human.

This number has been calling me for months they pose as "Scotiabank" even leaves a automated voicemail with your first and last name and gives you a location to mail too (dawn mills in Ontario) or something like that. I knew it was a scam but called Scotiabank to confirm it is. Please don't give them any information if you don't know if it's a scam hang up and call Scotiabank's phone number listed on the back of your debit card!

asking me for my phone number, postal code, last 3 digits of my social security, full name etc. claiming to want to discuss matters on my personal banking account but wouldnt give me a clue as to what exactly that was until I "confirmed" my identity, even though they're calling me. I gave them my full name as they had that already, phone number as they had that already and postal code but once they told me they needed more information I told them I was outtie. Seemed shady to me.

844-320-64xx called my cell 3 times today. 8:09amET (I didn't pick up, they left no message) 2:23pmET (I didn't pick up, they left no message) 5:37pmET (I didn't pick up, they did leave a message) Before the 3rd call, I had blocked the number after looking it up and seeing other people reported it as a scam, so it went direct to voicemail. Voicemail message left at 5:37pmET was an automated recording that said: "This is scotiabank calling about a personal banking matter for [my first name] [my last name]. (*note: my real first name and last name were inserted into the message and recorded by different female voices). Please call us today at 855 976 67xx. Again, that's 855 976 67xx. Or write to P/O Box 403 Don Mills, Ontario M3C 2T2. Thank you from Scotiabank." Scotiabank doesn't contact customers this way. They would DEFINITELY never tell you write them by snail mail at a P/O box.

Automated voice said press one if this is (my name), press 2 if it is not. I’m not sure how they got my name right but they didn’t say any my name.. just first name.. and I have been banking with Scotiabank for a few years now too.. definitely was a scam though and overall pretty creepy.

They had my name correct, wanted my birth date which I gave a fake one to see if I can talk to a real person. No one ever did answer while I was waiting on hold and finally the call dropped. I reported the number to the real Scotiabank. The lady said they've had complaints about this number before and verified that it was not a Scotiabank representative calling me.
