HOW TO STOP UNSOLICITED CALLS TO YOUR LAND LINE PHONE: I used to get three or four calls a day from this number. Caller ID says it's from "Auto Care." I never answer a call from a number I don't recognize, but I was getting around 10 - 12 scam calls a day from different numbers and area codes, and I've finally found a way to STOP most (95%) of them. The majority of the scam calls you'll get are from automated dialers that dial numbers in a given area code ("robocalls"). After every call, the dialer indexes one digit and makes another call to the new number, and so on. When the dialer hears someone say, "Hello," or hears a message from an answering machine, it knows it's found a person, so it tags that number as "active" for future calls. Here's what I did: I pulled a random business card from a stack of contacts I keep in my desk, and called their fax number. Using a digital recorder (the one on your cell phone should work just fine), I recorded the fax tone for about 10 seconds (make sure your speaker phone is on when making the recording, and turn the volume down a little to avoid distortion). Then, I played the recorded fax tone (now turn the volume up on the recorded tone) and recorded it as my outgoing message on my answering machine. I did this about two months ago and, after the first couple of weeks, the never-ending scam calls I was getting began dropping off significantly (I've only received two during the entire month of April, 2016!). The robodialer now thinks your number is a fax machine, and won't bother calling again because there's no live person on the other end, and so it removes your number from the "active" list! As the list is passed on or sold to other scammers, your number will eventually disappear from their records. This only works for land lines, and you'll have to take a little time and trouble to let your friends and family know about your new answering machine message (just tell them to wait for the beep), but the peace and quie

called to tell me that Idaho had decreased its insurance rates and insurance company's would be calling me and to verify what state i live in said Idaho had a 35% rate decrease so i called my insurance company they warned me it could be a scam the woman talked so fast i couldn't hardly under stand her i had to yell at her to slow down

Call 6-7 times a week on my work phone number. Want to tell me about Auto Insurance Rate Reductions and how they can save me money. They want me to describe my car make and model to them as well as give them my vin number. I have told them if they continue to call my work phone my company will seek legal actions and to remove me from their list. They just keep calling! UGH!!!

This # calls about 6-7x's a day never any message, seems to think it's a good time to call while I'm working. I'm going to call the FCC the harassment is illegal. For now just block the # that worked for me for a few days
