On T-Mobile and related companies, when you press "1," your phone actually dials this phone number to get your voicemail. If your phone shows this number for an outgoing call, that was YOU dialing voicemail. T-Mobile never makes that clear. If your phone shows this number for an incoming call, then certainly voicemail is not calling you! If this phone number was incoming, it was certainly a Scamming Telemarketer that fraudulently "spoofed" the phone number to make it appear on your caller ID. Spoofing: By using a computer and VoIP technology, they can make any number they want appear on your phone's caller ID. They can even make your phone say "FBI Headquarters." The only defense against being fooled by Scamming Telemarketers: Don't answer calls that aren't in your Contact List. If it's a new, legitimate contact, they'll leave a voicemail. After hearing the voicemail, you can add their number to your contact list so you'll answer the phone the next time they call. Every human being on the planet will understand why you didn't immediately answer a call that wasn't in your contact list -- because there's no way to assure the strange phone number wasn't from a Telemarketing Scammer! If your phone notifies you that you got a voicemail a minute after getting the unknown phone call, you can check if it was a legit call. If it wasn't legit or if the stranger didn't leave a voicemail, then you'll know it was a Scamming Telemarketer.
