Called me and said I had a refund from a recent Microsoft purchase and wanted my checking account number to deposit the refund into. As soon as I told him this was a scam because I never purchased anything from Microsoft he hung up.

just like everyone else said...scam using spoofed number (when I called it, got the same fax machine noise as others) to try to get personal computer info...(I pressed "1" so I could talk to these indian scammers and "screw" with them, but it disconnected.)

Spoofed #. I called number back since it was 800 #. The line rang 3 times then line picked up. No human voice only loud mechanical type ringing like the old Fax Machine tone when line is dialing. Noise continued until I hung up. Search of this number indicates it once belonged to Microsoft. I'm guessing Microsoft dumped the number. Now it's being spoofed by scammers.

The said they are from microsoft but they aren't. This is a SCAM, they want you to give them control of your computer by telling you want keys to press which goes something like the windows key and alt key.
