I received a letter in the mail, it looked very real.First, let me go back... I have been a police officer in a big city for 25 years and have dealt with fraud scams throughout my career. The letter which appeared to be from the IRS stated I owed $1,649.00 due to what appeared to be a write-off in 2016. I did not have any write-offs any time of my life. The write-off was supposed to be from RKL Financial. So I attempted to contact them, they do not exist. I then ran a search on the telephone number I was supposed to call 1-800-829-8310, this is a fake scam number if you get one of these letters or phone calls you can report it to the real IRS at www.irs.gov/privacy-disclosure/report-phishing

I received a letter stating to call 1-800-829-83xx claiming that my husband and I owe back taxes this is a fake scam number I even signed a certified ticket in order to receive this letter from my mailman if I would have known this is what it was I would not have signed for it

Yeah I just recently got the same letter that I owe $3700 but I looked up here in the state of California that all my payments should be going to Fresno not Connecticut not New York not Utah addresses were just all over the place and of course I got that same number on the letter too many red flags I gave it to my tax person to handle it.

This number was on a form that appeared to have come from the iRS. I called the number only to see that the women on the other end of the phone was unprofessional and definitely not an employee/representative from the iRS. They are trying to scam citizens out of millions!!!
