Similar to the other comments here. "This call is for (my name, which they pronounced very incorrectly). This is (generic female name, in this case Mindy) from Ascendium calling on behalf of (college/university I went to) with some updated information for you. Please give me a call back at 1 800 815 1288. I'll be here from 10:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday central time. Again, my number is 1 800 815 1288 and I look forward to hearing from you." If it was a little less vague, I might've called back. Fortunately I bothered to look up the number.

I have gotten this call once a month for a while now, and based on the other comments, I will be blocking the number. My loans and financials have nothing to do with Ascendium.

The text above is the text of the voicemail I received after I missed the call. It's very similar to what everyone else has received from this phone number as well.

My student loan company is thru department of ed, direct loans. Ascendium only manages ffelp loans which I have never even heard of. Don't know how "Laura" got my information considering I am still in school, she kept offering "helpful information" on "behalf of my college" but did not say what it was. I blocked the number and sent a very heated email to my college. I do not want student loan debt collection companies calling me when 1. I am not in repayment 2. they're not even my servicer! Block this number if you get a call from them, reeks of bad news.

I just received a call from Laura, after reading your message. I find we have this in common. I Don't know who Ascendium is, the student loan company my daughter has associated with her school is not this company. I don't know why they are calling but probably best not to call back until I do further research and then call the rightful loan company to see what the issue is at this time.

Something about School loans from my college, and time to pay back in September, talked about Nelnet then wanted my email address, I would not give up my email address. only verified the number they called on. but they were really trying to get my email address, I told Laura no like 3 times. they gave me a repay catalyst site and a catalyst ID # yeah I don't think so.

Sue Calling on behalf of my college from a 1 800 number when my school calls from a local number. “With helpful information”. If it was really important they would have left a message as to what the helpful information was/is. I blocked the number and will not return the call.

Shelly from financial services called "on behalf" of a school I had attend. I told her that I was uncomfortable giving any personal information over the phone without verifying who she was and was representing. I already have my federal loans under control and unsure why they would be reaching out to people making current and up-to-date payments on their federal loans. I can't say I would recommend speaking with them without physical verification of their intents.

A person left a message saying they were from the school I went to. My former school doesn't call, they send letters. Second, the caller said their name so fast, I couldn't understand it. They said they "have some useful information" for me. Don't trust them. Frankly, don't trust any unknown caller.

I got this call today and they said that they're name is Patricia and that she's calling behalf of my college about helpful info about student loans. That's good and all but who are they? They don't say who they are and any information they leave is the number they called. Frist off, I don't know who they are.They don't say who they're from. Second, why are they calling behalf of my school? Shouldn't my school be calling me or at least send me an email? All in all, I don't trust this call and considering everyone else feels the same, makes me feel better about not calling them back.

I went to college last year and the loan I took out must of fallen behind. These people are the advisors that call from the school and they told me how to get payments suspended while I pick out a graduate school. They seemed nice.
