The phone number was provided by an FTC Complaint Assistant to lock my Equifax Credit Report. I spoke to a guy with a heavy accent named Rudy. He was asking a lot of questions that didn't make sense. I haven't dealt with any institution that would ask for my full SS# over the phone. Anyway, online it says that the Lock and Alert feature is free for life (https://www.equifax.com/personal/products/credit/credit-lock-alert/). Rudy was insisting that I give him my credit card information because according to him, the Lock and Alert feature is a $6.95 monthly subscription. I hung up and quickly set mine up online for free.

this is Equifax. You never get through to a real person. I spent hours yesterday trying to get through. tried every number I could every word I could. you just keep getting the machine don't bother calling them. don't block them in case they need to call you but don't look to them for any help.
