I had just plugged in my phone for my new business and no more then 2 minutes go by and I received a call from "google" pretending to confirm my information so that they could verify my business. The Jig was up as soon as they asked for my visa information for a one time payment of 99$. They even sent me a google verification code. Ill hand it to them this was the closest anybody has every got to fooling me. He used the name Richard.

I called the phone number he gave me on another line while he talked to my husband and they only picked up after 6 rings, there was no automated phone pick up identifying that we had reach Google Marketing Department and to stay on the line. The guy answered hello and when I asked what company he was with he paused and said Google Marketing support, so I hung up and then cross checked the number and it comes up under scam... So YES! this is a scam call DO NOT Give them any information...

they say a one time fee of $99 is needed to re-activate your listing. They already have all of your ad info, and even give you a google activation code sent to your email. THIS IS A SCAM CALL. They are very persistent, and convincing. They are very good at getting your card info, and taking your money. I got a call from my financial institution 2 days later asking about a charge on my card made to a cosmetics shop in Cairo Ohio, it was fraudulent, and related to this google scam call, also from Ohio. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!! They got me for $99, I don't want it to happen to you, or anyone else.

She tried to charge me $99 for a listing maintenance fee for the next two years. She managed to send me a text and phone call with a google code. She also directed me to an article from 2019 saying that google might start charging businesses. Very persistent. Very save, still a scam.

This is different than your average telemarketer. These people are true SCAM artists. They EXPLICITLY state they are from Google, they are not. They then give you all kinds of info about themselves and an ID code. They ask you to update info about your Google business listing. Then they ask for a cell phone number, here's where it gets good. THEY HAVE GOOGLE TEXT YOU AN ACCOUNT RECOVERY CODE! This makes you think they're actually Google when it's just them trying to HACK your account! After about 5 mins of talking they tell you your Google Business Listing is Expired and to activate it for another 2 years you must pay $99. THIS IS A LIE! They then ask if they can charge it to the card they have on file ending in XXXX. Either a card they stole from you or as a way to get you to give them a new card #. Then they want you to read the code they sent you so that they can HACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT and make changes that you can make yourself for free. I told the guy I had to check with our president before making any charges. He's called back 6 times in 12 hours! I'm changing my log in info and signing out all accounts. They are very slick and persistent. BEWARE!!!

Got 2 800#'s... looked them up and got to this listing ;) Thank you! I too have been in business for 18+yrs and question why this is happening when I never had to in the past. "ad Words" is different they said. I have also had previous calls for Maps... that is Fake too! Not giving my card over the phone!

They called my company's office and demanded to speak with the owner. I kept refusing as it was clearly a marketing call, and he gave me a phone number and name "David Watson" and said it was imperative that we call about managing our Google business account. Our marketing team manages our Google business page. It works just fine.

They pretended to be from Google and were updating my listing. They were very good and convincing. They were even pretending to change my business hours and gave me a confirmation code. Then they asked for $99. and my CC numbers. I've been in business for 15 years and do all the management of my business pages so i didn't fall for it. I know a lot of noobs are falling for this scam. They almost got me.

They addressed themself as Google representative asked upgrade listing information and asked my cellphone number and credit card number pay immediately. I asked them to put everything in writing and mail it to my business address, by the meantime I gave them my business email address. I checked the emailbox and found a new email from Google document look like, which I forward it to another email box with my statement and recordings. Both of these document from google and my writing were completely lost 10 minutes later. It is not normal this in this procedure. It’s weird .
