Eversource (Electric Company) MoneyPak scam (Scam call) reported by


Caller demands I pay $400 immediately as the crew is at my house now to replace my electric meter with a new one, and I haven't paid the required deposit. They will remove the old meter and leave me without power for days unless I pay at an express billing center within the hour. Turns out "express billing center" means go to a Walgreens, CVS or 7-11 and buy a $400 MoneyPak card then call them back with the number on the card. Very well-spoken, no foreign accent, educated sounding person. Not like your run-of-the-mill scam. If you answer and they demand that you pay immediately, then it is a scammer. Because the real Electric company will not do that. If they offer you a discount, then it is a scam as well.
