It is a scam. Don't pay any money over the phone. They say they are DTE, even the caller ID on the phone shows DTE. They told us we missed 3 payments and need to call their corporate offices. They asked if we received the letter Notice of shutting off our power. We asked about the details, what payments, and what account number. They said those are private information and can't tell us. They said to call corporate offices. We called corporate office in Grand Rapids MI (so they claimed), they threaten to shut our power off if we don't pay and demanded payment over the phone. They are very rude on the phone. We called DTE customer service on the phone number on our DTE statement. Customer service confirmed we were being targeted with scam - especially small business are targeted because their daily operation depends on electricity. DTE customer service confirmed that payment would never be demanded such a way over the phone.
