Against my better judgment I scheduled the appointment because the voicemails were so insistent. Comcast truck came technician came removed 2cable boxes and replace them with bumper boxes without asking me told me that I was going to get the same service for less money. my bill actually went up. Charged me for one of the TVs that I’ve had for seven years and then the box died. Called the customer service number and was told by the technician that he had never heard of Comcast soliciting unneeded or unreported equipment inspection inside someone’s home. Also told me that if it turned out to be my home issue I would have to pay $40 for the visit. Another tech came back put in a working bumper box. He told me there would be no charge. Now I’m fighting the original charge for the third TV and scrutinizing my bill for the $40 charge. Changed every password I have

The person on the phone spoke with a thick Chinese accent and said his name was David. He sounded like he could barely speak coherent English. I decided to have fun and kept asking him questions. The rest was as in all the previous descriptions of this scam. I hang up and looked up the number. It looks like phishing/social engineering with the purpose of identity theft. Bonne chance to them. Ha-ha-ha!!!

Caller ID came up as Comcast Tech Support. Caller had a thick Indian accent and asked to speak with account owner. When I said they weren’t available he said I was authorized on the account, yes? I said sure. He asked schedule appointment for tech to come out and check for cable leakage and that the tech would need access to our premises for up to 50 minutes. Having never heard of this I was suspicious. I said I would call Comcast customer service and verify. He was persistent about scheduling an appointment. When I reiterated I wanted to call Comcast myself and verify he asked when could they call back and schedule the appointment. I told him again I would call Comcast and schedule so he finally let me go. I called Comcast 800 number listed in the phone book and they did say they wanted to check our connections. The tech will check outside first and request access if they think there’s leakage inside the house. Made the appointment through them. Maybe Comcast is outsourcing scheduling these appointments to an overseas call center? I don’t think they’re saving anything doing that because of the bad rep that many of these call centers have and suspicious people like me are going to call their regular customer service anyway.

Claimed to be from Comcast and told me someone needed to come out to investigate equipment inside my home. I called the actual Comcast customer service number and they told me there were no issues or notes on my account and that there was no reason they needed to send anyone. Make of it what you will.

Notified of comcast scam in my area and started receiving recorded messages from this number thereafter and assumed a scam. Past few days my cable has been going out and called comcast. They tested and told me there is an outside leakage problem and they are sending someone out and I need not be home since problem is outside. I see too many people reporting this # as spam and some saying uts legit. I'll find out this afternoon when the tech comes to check at pole. I called the regular cust serv # not this one to report my outage. The robot calls were relentless.

The call.email will say you have a signal leak, and they need to schedule. If you call, you get a call center in India asking personal questions. I ended the call and initiated a Comcast chat: Comcast did not recognize this as one of their numbers. They escalated it to their security team. They will also send you a very official email, but there are not indications that this is real.

Comcast field service. Comcast monitors service to your cable boxes and when the box reports weak or lost signal, they collect the data and use it to call you and offer to come out to fix your in home issues. Its (in my opinion) a way to increase business. It is legit though...they called me during the day and when I got home my wife told me she was having trouble with one of the TVs. Comcast said loose wire....and that's exactly what I found.
