Scam call pretending to be credit card fraud notification (Scam call) reported by


A voicemail was left, telling me, 'Hello, this is Wells Fargo calling on behalf of your credit card. Our records indicate there was a recent purchase on your account in the amount of one thousand three hundred eighty five dollars and fifty nine cents, which was processed by Dollar Refund Tour' and 'if you have not received the product or service... please call us at 1-800-934-3799...'. It went on to describe the purchase terms, which were that I would owe interest if not paid in full by the date (typical of WF accounts). Problem is I don't have a Wells Fargo card that is set up to make that kind of purchase, only to buy from a specific local store. They had to be lying. I checked my WF online, and there was no new charge. I never called the number.

Freeway Insurance calling to provide information on an online quote that was started using my phone number as the contact number. While I did not initiate a auto insurance policy quote online or request any information from them online, they did state that my phone number was provided on an online inquiry they received. I kindly asked them to remove my number from their callback list and I haven't received any further calls.

I placed my info for an insurance quote with Freeway Insurance. This number called and then confirmed the information and forwarded to an agent. They couldn't beat GEICO by nearly 25 dollars per month or 250 dollars per year more expensive.

I haven't found any ratings for this number somewhere else on internet resources, which should be a good sign... Does someone have some experience with this one? Was trying also different formats of this number, but no luck. On the other hand, I am not the only one searching for this number as can be seen from different pages...
