This was definitely Capital One informing me of possible fraudulent charges. In fact I had 10 small fraudulent charges pending on my account. They froze my card and are sending me a new one. I verified the fraud charges in the app before calling them. When I did call I used one of the numbers on their website just to be sure. So glad I checked & called them.

Got a text from this number saying it is Capital 1 fraud department. Called the customer service number on the back of the card (not the number in the text). They verified it is a fraudulent number. Always call the number on the back of your card for safety.

Received text message from hahah capital one fraud, called capital directly to verify, they said no recent such transactions. So I called the number in text, an OMAR answered... very bad english (do these people know they are working for criminals?) so I stuttered acting like I had a speach impediment. He asked for full social security info. knew right away it was scam, did a search on number and here we are, called back capital one, reported it, they have authorities investigation immediately to track them down.

First they text you to say your card had a charge of $10 for ccbill.com Then they ask you to call "Capital one" at 8003686846 Then they ask for additional info - but it's all a scam. They tell you that your card was used in London for several .99 charges. BULL ****! Tell them what **** they are!

Claimed to be Capital One fraud protection, and asked for birthday as identifying information. I called Capital One directly, and they said their fraud protection always contacts by text or email, not by phone. In particular, they do not do machine-only calls, which this was. Absolute fraud.

This number is not registered on their website, no, but when I called the number on my debit card, and spoke with them, they verified that the number was legit and that they had to block my account due to charges that were going through on it. Please ignore anyone who is saying that this is a scam number - it isn't. Or, atleast call your bank because the text message will give you a card number and a case number. You can independently verify the Fraud but don't ignore the attempt to contact you.

I had the same thing happen today & it is legitimate. I got the text then checked my account before I called them just to make sure they had them right. The transactions were there in pending status. The lady I spoke with was very polite. They had my card restricted so that nobody could keep using it. She said if the charges were posted then to call them back & they will give me the money back. She even let me go withdraw what I had left so until I get my new card which she expedited in 1-2 days instead of the usual 3-5. This definitely NOT a scam!!!
