Scam - not cox (verified by calling cox myself) (Scam call) reported by Jorge
Got a letter in the mail from Credence about a fraud theft and me owing money. Set up a call back with cox a few days ago and got a call today from “cox”. Call was marked as spam risk. Person spoke perfect English with an American accent and speech patterns (meaning it came form inside the US likely). The lady began asking for personal info including security questions. Told her I wasn’t giving info do to it being marked as spam risk on my caller ID and I’d call cox back. Cox could not verify the phone number as one of theirs and said that they have no records of the collection.

This is a spoofed phone number, created to look and sound like Cox Customer Service. They will ask you a bunch of security questions, including the last 4 of your Social, moms maiden name and grandmother's maiden name. I caught on fast, and hung up. They immediately called back from another number that is actually assigned to a Texas Comfort Inn. Changed my passwords and security codes immediately.

I had called Cox to downgrade my server and requested a call back in 5 minutes. This call arrived in 4 minutes. I almost didn't answer it because the caller id looked like a real estate company. When I did answer it, there was no one there, i kept saying 'hello' even though there was no sound on the line (no hum, nothing), until the line disconnected.
