This was a scam call pretending to be BECU. It was quite convincing, they even use the real BECU phone number. But the real BECU will never ask for your PIN number or security question answers over the phone. As soon as I called the number back, the real agent told me that unfortunately I’d been scammed.

This was a scam call spoofing the BECU number. Hang up! (Scam call) reported by


I didn't trust the number, so I checked here first and saw people claiming that it was safe and just BECU, which gave me false confidence in a scam call. The same 1-800 number is even on the back of my debit card, but it's easy to spoof the number being generated, while they call from another one. The thing is that, when you usually get calls from a place like this, it isn't the 1-800 number, that's just the number that you call that then redirects you to the numbers of the individual agents. They'll know your name, because they've skimmed your card and found your number online. So... they have a fake version of your card, already. They start off by offering to freeze your current card and reissue you one. IF you get a call/warning like this, just offer to call them back directly. They don't leave a message, they just keep calling, because, when/if you do call the number back, it actually dials what's showing, which is the actual BECU number. When you call them directly, they can let you know if there really is an issue or not and you know that you're speaking with the bank, because you dialed it. The scammers will clean out your account, while you're still on the phone with them. Be careful, folks.
