megan elliott from howard heinzl - stop calling it's ridiculous (Debt collector) reported by


i got another call today, this time from Megan Elliot from Howard Heinzl (fancy name for debt collector) and how they have left several messages in the past and have not heard from me at all. They give two different names of who they are looking for and seem hesitant which tells me they are unsure of what and who they want. then the message about having me or legal representative call before end of business day. Keep in mind, I have no collection accounts, public records at all. I check all three credit reports and look at the inquiries. There is no such company and/or person checking my credit (permissible by law for collections) at all. Experian is really good at listing which company views your report. Also note, it is against law for debt collector to serve you at work and must notify you of debt by mail giving you 30 days to respond.

My wife received a summons to appear in court from these people today. Is it legal for them to serve you at work.

Rick, from my understanding of the law as I've read it, it is legal so long as it is th me original creditor that is the one making contact and not a collections agent or third party debt collector. So for instance if lets say your wife owed Capital One and was in collections, Capital One themselves may contact you at work as much as they want or serve you as well, however if Heinzl collection agency contacts you at work after you have told them not to, that is against the law. I'm curious you said they served your wife a summons. Was it in a local court? Or a court in Heinzl's jurisdiction? Also what was the summons for(don't answer that if you don't feel comfortable) my wife is in the same situation, but they have not served her anything just yet, and I'm curious to know who they are representing, and what state or town they are summoning people to come to court in.

they called many times but this is the only time they left a message. claimed to be howard Heinz or howard hines and looking for me or an authorized or legally authorized person for me. said I should call back within 24 hrs but i'm not going to. didn't leave any reason for the call.

I get a phone call from these guys quite a bit saying that I or a legal representative needs to call them back within 24 hours about a legal matter (keep in mind I have no idea of any legal issues with me or credit) and that the message they are leaving is proof that they have called me. (I'm so scared now! HAHAH) They don't leave any reason for message and if this was a legitimate debt, they would first attempt to contact by mail (as required) to give me 30 days to respond and go from there. The girl speaks fast and very unclear, which tells me they know trying to pull a fast one on me or anyone else they call. I also believe that they're using Howard Heinz or whatever they call themselves to make it sound as if they are a law office, when,in reality, they are only a debt collection company. I have not called them back, even though I have received about five messages in the last 6-7 months giving me 24 hours to do so about the important matter they want to discuss.

They give a "File number" and say you need to contact them within 24 hours before "further proceedings". All a scare tactic from a debt collector.

I haven't found any ratings for this number somewhere else on internet resources, which should be a good sign... Does someone have some experience with this one? Was trying also different formats of this number, but no luck. On the other hand I am not the only one searching for this number as can be seen from different pages... Does anyone know who might be calling?

It's trying to collect a debt. They say they are Howard Heinzl attorney office but I think just collection company

they call me like 10 times a day. my cousin answered the house phone to them and they said it was for my accident and the damages to the other guys car because i did not have insurance (i know that was stupid and im paying the price) but anyways the thing that bugs me is when they called my house phone they swore up and down that "I" gave them the number. (i dont even use the house phone because i have a cell phone and use that as my main number) and i have my notices for the price for what i owe to the other guys insurance that i just found out i owe so i shouldnt already be getting calls from a collection agency. dont know plan on calling them back an telling them my situation and telling the Allstate will be getting the money and no one else.

fake debt collector company trying to sound like a lawyer's office

they are trying to collect on a debt which most likely no longer exists on your credit report and is past the time period permitted that you can be sued and/or taken to court to collect. Check your credit report to see what inquiries are on there to see if the inquiry is there with the phone number.
