I returned the call just to jerk their chain. It is a fake IRS collections call. They claimed I was evading taxes and that they had audited my returns for the years 2012 - 2016. I asked when they completed the audit. The guy calling from the middle east said they completed the audit at the end of 2016. I informed him that 2012 would have been beyond the statute of limitations, 2016 had not been filed as the year had not ended, and that they couldn't have audited me without obtaining any of my records. He very frustratedly replied that I would receive another call within 45 minutes regarding my arrest. I replied, "Bring it on!" There are definite benefits to being a C.P.A. and knowing the tax laws better than they do.
