Predatory Magazine Subscription (Telemarketer) reported by Jae
These people are rude, unprofessional and basically thieves. An extremely aggressive, rude and unprofessional telemarketer just called me and hung up on me after I demanded to speak to the manager or to a complaints department several times. It was about them wanting to steal money from me for a magazine subscription service that I never wanted. Several months ago this same service contacted me through one of those "earn money online" point-buy services (huge mistake/ rip-off in and of itself) and during one of the worst periods of my depression, got me to order magazine subscriptions that I could not afford and lied on the application about my household income without my consent. After talking to Scott about it THE NEXT DAY I canceled the subscription. Or so I thought. They sent me a confirmation card in the mail and via email, but I can not find either now, and I have been receiving an Us Weekly every week since then, which I thought was strange (and obnoxious). They told me today that I signed on for $20/mo for $20 months. I did not. Then they kept repeating that they were going to use my credit card information to renew at an even higher rate for 5 years. I told them absolutely not. "So you want to sign up for the lower rate?" She condescendingly asked. "No. I don't want any rate. I am not willing to pay anything. Put on your supervisor right now." After several rounds of that, she said she was transferring me to a complaints dept, and the call was disconnected. Has anyone else dealt with these cretins before? Is there anything else I can do? I am going to the bank right now to make sure to stop all payments to these bottom-feeders.
