Claimed to be with AT&T. Claimed I had accounts with them already. They quoted a phone number, which actually is mine, but isn't an AT&T account. They hung up on me at that point.

I always make the assumption that if it is important and they are legit, they will leave a message (I find that is usually true). Otherwise it is obviously a wrong number, a telemarketer trying to sell me something I don't need or a scammer trying separate some poor gullible person from their money.

Asked what i watched on TV. Asked operation location from and they said Phoenix , AZ, Then asked why the San Diego area code. They then offered their employee ID #. Replied that I sensed a scam and had no interest in discussing my TV preferences over the phone. G'day mate.

When you get any kind of unsolicited calls (robo generated or not) and you get a live person from the caller, when they greet you or ask you a question you just respond "What do you lying cork soakers want to scam me out of today?" If they respond or not just keep repeating your opening phrase over and over and over whatever they say or try to respond with. Do this until THEY hang up. If we all respond like this to all unsolicited and illegal calls they will soon get the message. I do this with all unsolicited illegal calls whether if is from Microsoft about computer errors, the IRS or someone wanting to sell back braces or "Rachel" from credit card services. I am on the DO NOT CALL list so that makes them fair game Try it!

Nope. I would much rather not answer the phone to begin with. Answering the phone once or repeatedly only lets them know they have a live, active number. Ignore them. Block them if you can. But don't answer it.
